Trunked Information
Note:

With older Trunktracker Scanners you may want to enter the frequencies as a type one system with all the size groups set to one.. You can use type 2 if you like, but the type 2 ID#s wont come up as the right number If the system patches 2 ID#s together. Then what ever is the patched ID# being used is will be 3 numbers higher than normal.  This happens because the system changes the status bits on the ID# to create an ID# for the patch. (Example: 36944 with 36848 patched in would then be 36977)  Newer scanners can ignore the status bits so the ID#s will come up as the normal ID#s on the type 2 system, the patch will appear on either one of the Id's being patched.. When you set the scanner up in type 1 mode you need to use the type 1 ID#s, but they will appear correctly when patched, just as type 2 Id's do on newer scanners.  Below is an ID# conversion chart to aid you if you decide to set your older scanner up as type 2.

A very well deserved Thank you to Vince of Federal Way for helping me understand how this system works.

The Val. Com system is a Motorola type 2 Smart Zone system.  There are transmiter sites spread throughout King County. Depending on where a unit is, or who they are communicating with determines wich site or (Zone) the radio will transmit and recieve on. There is a series of ID#s that are in use on the system. The ID#s you hear will depend on wich site you are monitoring, because an ID# must be active on the site your listening to in order to hear it.But the ID#s are the same throughout the system.
