On my Bookshelf...

Safely Home -- Randy Alcorn -- My entire site here is dedicated to the story this book tells.  It folows a Chinese man and his family as they are persecuted for beleiving in Christ.  the story is touching, the representation is accurate from what I hear, the ending is fabulous, and the whole story is a tear jerker.  It proves that when life gets to hard for us to handle, we can, and must, draw our strength from the Lord.

The Ishbane Conspiracy -- Randy Alcorn -- The book follows four teenagers for one year, and documents the demons that are trying to ruin their lives.  It can/will change your life!

Veritas Conflict -- Shaunti Feldhahn -- A young girl starts her college carreer at Harvard, oblivious to the raging spiritual battle around her, and to the fact that she is a key player in a game of ultimate stakes.

The Martyr's Song Series (When Heaven Weeps, Heaven's Wager, Thunder of Heaven) -- Ted Dekker --  If you are happy being stuck a mediocre Christian WARNING!! do not read these books! But if you want a book that is going to challege your view of God and mankind, keep you clinging to the edge of your seat, and leave you wanting more, then you have to read these books!!!

The O'Malley Series (Danger in the Shadows [prequel], The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer) -- Dee Henderson -- Dark thrillers that still manage to prove that true love really does conquer all.

Mere Christianity -- CS Lewis -- I finally read this and all I have to say is: read it!!  No Christian, new or old, has any excuse not to.

To Kill a Mockingbird -- Harper Lee-- This is the only classic I have actually ever finished of my own free will, and I loved it!

Paradise Lost -- John Milton -- I read this book for British Literature class and it is great!!  I strongly suggest using Cliff's Notes to help you if you do not understand epic poems very easily, though, as it can be sort of confusing at times.

Blink -- Ted Dekker -- It's amazing how much I learned about prayer and faith from this book!  I even quoted it in my research paper Senior year.

Blessed Child/ A Man Called Blessed -- Ted Dekker -- I am naming my son Caleb. Yes.  And I wish I grew up like this kid did.  *Sigh*  Read the books, you'll see what I mean.  Blessed Child has an incredibly good illustration of sin in your life, and A Man Called Blessed covers the whole faith-in-God issue again.  I love everything he writes!!!!

I Kissed Dating Goodbye -- Joshua Harris -- He makes several really good points and has a strong argument for abandoning traditional dating.  It totally encompasses the idea of being content with where you are and letting God use your singleness.  I've read the book twice now and I know I'm still not done with it.

Hinds Feet on High Places
-- Hannah Hurnard -- Yes it's an old book, and I was forced to read it my freshman year in high school, but if you really get into it you get a lot out of it.  It's a great metaphor of the Christian life.
