The sub-task was to replace fuel lines. A problem in California is the use of the substance MTBE in our fuel. MTBE was supposed to reduce pollution, but not only is it contaminating our water supply, it has the side-affect of rapidly deteriorating rubber fuel lines. |

We had all the supplies necessary, and after some inspections, we found one car that had a serious leak in the 2 inch fuel filler hose. This was the one hose we didnt have in stock, but after a couple of calls, Steve Bogart was able to pick up a replacement on the way over. At $2 per inch, it is not cheap ! But we only needed ~5 inches to go from the gill filler and the tank neck.
While Chris and Steve were busy performing the fuel line repair, Bill and Brett Santos were upgrading the other orange machine with a 7/8 GTS rear sway bar and dress mount from PrecisionPro-Formance.

It is a common occurrence to see a fire caused by MTBE rotting a fuel line, which then leaks, and the car gets torched. Perhaps you even read the story about the DeTomaso Longchamp spyder that fell victim to this problem. So inspecting the fuel lines is important.
On March 24th, the Pantera Club of Northern California (PCNC) held a mini-tech session at the home of member Chris Clark. The topic of the day was detailing. However, with a strong threat of rain, only one owner chose to do detail work on his Pantera. As it turned out, the weather was great, and I even earned a sunburn !
