Pantera Bumpers
My intent here is to build a knowledge base of bumpers. What are all the vairants ?
By Chuck Melton
Pre-L Round-edge
This white 1972 Euro-GTS in the image to the right, sports the Pre-L bumpers in black. Note the lens is white with a amber bulb. This version would be included as a Pre-L Round-edge.
Seen on this Gray car is the nurf bar added between the Pre-L bumpers. This was a common dealer-installed option.
5) Amerisport GT5-S (slightly different from the L-model, I believe--some had custom goodies such as running lights incorporated into the leading edge. See the Spring 2001 issue of Pantera International for Kirk Evans' description.)
Above is Roger Sharp's car wearing round edge Pre-L front bumpers. Note that the turn signal is part of the bumper, and is amber in color. The round-edge describes the front face. Also note the side towards the left fender. Compare this to the bumpers below.
The factory description of bumper change-over is on the Rear Bumper page, linked below.
1) Pre-L Flat-edge A) Wrap around B) Non-wrap around 2) Pre-L Round-edge
3) European L (chrome bumperettes, round edge, no turn signal) 4) USA L (one-piece rubber/steel, and various fiberglass or carbon fiber copies)

Pre-L Wrap Around
It is hard to notice the difference between the non-wrap and the wrap, except side-by-side in person. The Pre-L Round-edge above is not a wrap-around.
The European L, round-edge is seen to the right. This could be a USA car retrofited with the Euro-L bumpers.
The standard USA L bumper is seen to the left, and to the right is a Carbon Fiber-clad L bumper.

Below, left, is a GT5, wearing the Euro-L bumperettes, with no parking light. Next to that is another car, with the European bi-color parking/turn signal combination. Bumpers tend to be one of the frequent modifications owners make to the body that is more involved than adding a wing, but less effort than flares.
