| Some owners prefer the look of the early style bumper, and retrofit them onto their L version Panteras. On the front, it is necessary to fill in the large round hole where the bumper shock was placed. You can clearly see the mount holes on this black & yellow car. |
| If the shock holes are filled in, the next consideration is whether to also fill in the turn signal pods, and use the Pre-L bumper with the attached turn signal, or affix the bumper without the light, and leave the L style turn signal, as these cars were treated. |

| It is more common for an owner to change from a L bumper to a Pre-L than the other way around. |
| Occasionally an owner of an L bumper car will seek to make a change, either for looks, or to save weight. The combined weight of the complete L bumper system is approximately 200 pounds over the weight of the pre-L bumpers. The change can be replacing the stock L bumpers with fiberglass units, or retrofitting the Pre-L style. |
