Better Than Best Chapter 7: Bad Reviews Everyone piled in and saw immediately that we had made up and were back normal. We went home after that. Ash and Trev headed right for the kitchen. Jacob went up to his room and Dan and I dropped heavily onto the couch. I slept in his arms for as long as I possibly could. Soon enough Trevor was waking me up. Jenna, get up. I opened my eyes to find Trevor smiling and Dan waking up beside me. We got up and followed Trevor out the door. We got into a limo. Jacob, Ashley, Mike, and Mike were waiting for us. Where are we going? I asked. Another meet and greet, Cronin told me. Anything after that? Ashley asked. You guys are going back to the house and packing so you can fly to LA first thing tomorrow, Mike smiled his ha-no-sleep-for-you smile. I sighed. I was too tired for this. We drove in silence the rest of the way to the Virgin Megastore. We took our places and signed autographs, took pictures, and tried our best to stay awake. When we were done we got back into the limo and went home. Most of us slept on the way there. At the house we went our separate ways to pack. I went into my room and found my duffel bag. Realizing that I had no clue how long we would be away, I grabbed my cell phone and called Mike Morin. He answered after the first ring. Hello? Mike, how long are we going to be gone? I asked. Three days then well be back in Orlando for a day. The next day well be packing up the tour bus to start the tour, Mike said. OK, thanks Mike. See you tomorrow, I said. Goodnight, Jenna, he replied before he hung up. I figured that the other guys didnt know how long we were going to be in LA so I went from room to room telling them what Mike had told me. Once I had gotten back to my room, I stared into my closet. I grabbed a pair of jeans, two pairs of shorts, assorted tee shirts, my jean jacket, a leather jacket, and a skirt. I found my nice clothes hanger bag and hung the skirt in it. I went into my bathroom and took my make-up, make-up remover, and contact care kit and threw them into a make-up bag, which then got thrown into the duffel bag. I put my cell phone, extra money, gum, sunglasses, emergency lipstick and mascara, a couple CDs, and Discman in my purse and hauled the whole load of luggage down the stairs and put it by the door. Jacobs stuff was already there. I went into the kitchen to find something to eat before I went to bed. Jacob was sitting at the counter reading a magazine. He looked up when I walked in. What are you reading? I asked him. An article on us, he replied. Want to hear what it says? Sure, I said as I looked in the refrigerator. O-Town does the pop thing again. Is it just us or are we all a little tired of the love songs, the break-up songs, and the not so original lyrics? In a recent interview with us, O-Town defended their style of music. Jenna Fairfield, the only girl in an otherwise boy band said the following, We love what we do. Theres always going to be a critic though. You cant please everyone. On her relationship with fellow band member Dan Miller, she had this to say, Hes the greatest. Im not going to hide the fact that I like him. He knows what Im going through and that makes it all the better. Miller told us, Jenna and I are the best of friends. We both love what were doing. Our first love will always be O-Town though. Jacob Underwood, who gets criticized for his rock like voice, said, If they cant stomach it, then theyre at fault. Ashley Angel talked about past relationships, Theyre not important to me right now. Im focused on the music and the fans and only that. Underwood added to that by saying, Nothing can get in our way. Trevor Penick, the only member we havent heard from yet, told us, The fans are the best. They support us 110%. We try to do all that we can for them. Earlier that afternoon, O-Town refused to sign autographs for the fans that had waited outside our office all night just to catch a glimpse of them. What did the group have to say about the bashing other pop acts had said about them? It hurts me as a person. Its like Im not what I am, Angel said. We cant be superhuman, Miller added. Fairfield also stated I dont think I like that very much. Underwood summed it up by saying, We are who we are. Take us or leave us. Penick closed out the interview by saying, I am famous. And thats that. Jacob looked at my open mouth. Youre kidding. They did not just print that! I was shocked. They took everything we said and twisted it in every which way. Some of those quotes werent even on those topics. And what fans? I didnt see any fans! Jacob turned as Dan, Ash, and Trevor came into the kitchen. Whats going on? Ash asked. A magazine made us come off like were totally brain and heart -less, Jacob continued by reading them the article. When he was done, I wasnt the only one with my mouth hanging open. I didnt say that my other relationships arent important to me! I said that about the critics, Ashley was mad. I came off like I was over-confident and cocky, Trevor said. Wow, Im glad they didnt print some of the other things I said. Some of that stuff couldve been really misprinted, Dan said to us. We sat in silence for several minutes letting the article sink in. Finally I spoke up. Cant we sue or something the people who printed that article? I asked. We could, but its really not worth it, Jacob replied calm, cool, and collected. We got up and dispersed throughout the house. I went back to my search for something to eat. Dan and Ashley took their stuff to the front room. Trevor sat on the couch and turned on the TV. Jacob went back to his magazine. I made myself a quick sandwich and joined Trevor on the couch. Soon enough the other guys came and sat and watched in silence. The next thing I know its morning and Im waking up right where I fell asleep, on the couch. The rest of the guys are in assorted positions on the couches or the floor. I got up and went to make coffee. We were going to need it today.
