| Buick produced this beast from 1984-1987. Of course there were earlier models with turbocharged 6's, but the Grand National most of us are aware of are the 84-87 models. The was a few 82 GN's but they are very rare. I am not sure about the specifics on those. The original GN's were produced only with a turbo an put out 200 hp. Then in 1986 they started to put intercoolers on the GN's which added an extra 45 hp. With buick producing a a turbocharged beast with 231 cubic inches of pure fury turning the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds, an 0-60 in less than 5 seconds it needed to be dicontinued with a bang. So in 1987 the produced a little over 500 GNX's which were a step up from the GN's that uncluded a better intercooler a ceramic turbo and even a better suspesion. Every last car was sold before it was ever built. In 1984-87 these were one of the fastest production cars in america. |
