From The Preservation Resource Center:
YOUR IMMEDIATE HELP NEEDED!

FIRST! Write the City Planning Commission and OPPOSE giving away any streets in the development area. SUPPORT restoring the street grid through former St. Thomas site and the proposed Super Wal-Mart site. THE CPC MUST HEAR FROM YOU BEFORE TUESDAY,OCTOBER 9! Call 565-7000, fax 565-6795 and/or write Jane Booth, Chairperson (see below).

If at all possible, attend or send a representative to:

CITY PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING ON RESUBDIVISION REQUEST
Date: Tuesday, October 9, 2001
Time: 1:30 PM
Place: City Council Chambers, City Hall

The City Planning Commission will be hearing the resubdivision request of the St. Thomas Development and the proposed Super Wal-Mart site. The developers have proposed returning the historical street grid to the St. Thomas site, and they are asking to remove the street grid from the Super Wal-Mart site. This is explicitly against the Big Box Ordinance, which discourages closing streets to provide off- street parking.

Write the CPC or attend the meeting on October 9; ask that the CPC to deny this request! Be sure to mention that this issue should be deferred in order for the staff to have more time to review the entire project. Letters can be addressed to:
