| Abraham Lincoln (12 February 1809 - 15 April 1865) was the 16th President of the United States and led the country during the American Civil War. Lincoln opposed the expansion of slavery and oversaw the Union war effort during the American Civil War. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address was his most famous speech and allowed him to abolish slavery and start reconstruction of his country. Lincoln is an icon of American nationalism. |
