 ORGANIZATION OF DISSERTATION

It is an exploration as how different firms plan projects and interpret risk before they come. More specifically, the dissertation is useful

 to understand as why organizations have developed a formal project planning process. The audience of the dissertation is mainly students, practicing project managers, analysts and anyone who needs an insight into project planning may benefit since the language of the document has been kept simple and to minimal technical jargon. The document is divided into the following main areas: 

This dissertation touches upon few of the managerial and technical topic of project planning activities and therefore answering any questions such as; how rational method of project planning could help mangers? What project management system can be set up to gain some measure of control? All of these causes and problems faced by the project managers represent linkages to an integrative project management view.

Part I – Introduction to Project Management: Introduces project management and its importance in an organization; Further more chapter highlights how in the very beginning top managers feel the need of having projects well managed. It also discusses current project management issues and where they are heading in today’s world. 

Part II – Rational Network Planning: Gives detailed set of procedures for rational project planning and integration with organizational goals. It also shines light on networking structure of planning projects its calculations and strategies, which would help project managers working either on many small projects at the same time or a large complex project. 

Part III  – Risk Management: is devoted to risk management considerations during the process of planning projects; as how to identify risks and their contingency planning; time shortening methods with the consideration of costs. Further more it discusses the kind of recourse constrains in a project. 

Part IV – Project Planning Applications: is devoted to field exposure of project planning. It discusses the information system requirements for a project manager to plan projects. Further, it mentions procedures in case of change of controls during project implementation. It gives insight to project implementation, closure and practices of project planning.
