Selection - August 16-20th 2004
On the 16th-20th of August 2004 I went on selection of the Isle of Coll in Scotland. Selection, as everyone says was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to go there (and go back again in July for training!)
Setset in Oban
I stayed in Corran House (www.corranhouse.co.uk). The ferry was at 8:00am - not as early as it can be - I've heard of the ferry leaving at 6, but still early when it's wet and cold, and you had to fly up from Luton Airport the day before!
On Coll, you stay with host families. I stayed with Karlijn and her two sons Scott and Olaf, who were all totally lovely (and Karlijn is a brilliant cook!)

Project were continually assessing us, and although this can feel at little strange - being watched 24/7, you get used to it. Project Trust like to get to know you so that they can place you in a project that you are well suited to, and also with a person that you will get on with!
We did loads of activities over the selection course including digging lazy beds, teaching, and learning Scottish dancing for the Thursday night ceidilh! The ceidilh was loads of fun - just go for it!
