INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE BIG DAY
1) All four corners as well
as the center have been marked by circles of paint or chalk.
2) Stay in close contact via
walkie-talkie so that all lines may be paid out at the same time.
3) The Drift Control Crew must
be especially careful to maintain the big balloon as
nearly
over the center point as possible.
4) At @ 6am, volunteers meet
in designated classroom to inflate small balloons and to do
final
preparation of other materials. Teams continue to gather.
5) At @ 7am, teams move out
to the center point on your campus' athletic field.
6) The Center Team inflates
the big balloon, ties the center, drift and all 4 corner lines to it.
7) As the Center Team begins
to send up the big balloon, the Corner Teams back
diagonally
away from the center toward their respective corners. The Drift
Control
Team backs directly into any breeze.
8) At @ 20 foot intervals,
Corner Teams tie small balloons to their lines in order to
designate
the pyramid's sides.
9) 321 feet below the peak,
the Center Team deploys the balloon bouquet designating
the Royal
Burial Chamber.
10) At @ 8:30 am, the captain of the Center
Team will announce to the Corner Teams
that it
is time to begin to bring the pyramid down. Be sure to bring in all
your string
and small
balloons so as not to litter the campus.
