I had most of the day off from work, so I thought I start working on my car. The other day I bought a Ractive Heat Shield Air Filter and stainless steel muffler. Today I installed the air filter. I'm going to hold on to the muffler until I can get some 3" pipes to go on with it. The filter makes the engine sound much better and it also accelerates quicker. I'm still trying to figure out where to put the breathers, though.

This weekend I ran out to Hobby Lobby and got some blue film paper because I was bored. I used it to tint my dome light and climate control knobs. I put two layers on the dome light because at first it looked kinda greenish. I could only put one layer on the knobs because they get snagged and torn otherwise. They were very difficult. I'm thinking about just painting them with some transparent blue paint. I also sent in my tax return forms, so soon I'll be doing a lot more mods.

I got my windows tinted today. It was quite a pain in the ass because I asked for 35 on the front and 20 on the rest. Nobody told me that they don' t do windshields, so he thought I wanted 35 on the front doors and 20 on the back. Then I had to argue with him and his little palm pilot notes. Finally I got 20 all around (excluding the front windshield). I think I'll put some silver lettering up there, whenever I think of something for it to say.

That light stick fell off. Stupid, stupid adhesiveless adhesives. I guess the heat was too much for it. Oh well, it blinded me at night, so I don't care anymore. I took the faulty speed-glo pedals off, too. My friend bought some really nice Ichiban blue brushed aluminum pedals. They wouldn't fit on his car so I bought them off of him. They are so nice. If only I had a camera. I also took off my emblems and badges and waxed and washed the entire car.

After a failed attempt of installing new bulbs (the gas exploded), I returned the burnt bulb and got some new ones. This time I got the right ones and was very careful not to touch the glass. I got Eurolite Hyper-White-Blue bulbs for the lows, highs/days, and fogs. I also replaced the rear back-up lights with a blue bulb. They are superbly bright and work much better than the stock bulbs. Now I can actually see my street at night (there are no street lamps). I also got a blue lightstick to put under the glove box per my girlfriend's request. It beats to the music.

I came home and found a package sitting at my door. It was the shift boot, finally off backorder. I installed it the next day. It wasn't very hard, the only problem was getting it back on. The new boot is significantly larger than the stock one, so I had to play with it a bit to make it fit. In the end it looks really nice and complements the knob well.

I got the Speed-Glo Pedals from the backorder. I installed them no problem. The only problem I had was finding a place to connect the wires. I found a small screw behind the hood release latch and grounded the negative wire there. Then I connected the power wire to the wiper fuse so it'll turn off when I turn the car off. The pedals look really cool day or night. Next step is painting the interior with blue highlights.

I partially installed the speed-glo pedals, stay tuned for complete confirmation. I also made my own clear climate control knobs. They're sweeeeet! They light up at night. I'm going to tint them blue.

OK, so I got the taillights installed. They were surprisingly easy, except that I needed to use the weather stripping from the old lenses to wrap around these. Otherwise there'll be a huge hole around them. The emergency brake handle wasn't as universal as they thought. On the Cavalier, the handle isn't round like most other imports. So I'll have to return that along with the clear bumper lenses. Those were already clear and just had an orange bulb in them. Oh well.

It's about damn time. I finally got those packages after having to call about five different people. Two items were on back order, so I didn't get everything I ordered. I got the CF emergency brake handle, clear corners, bumper lenses, and euro taillights. There's only about one hour of daylight left after I get off work, so I don't get much time to work on the installs. I was able to install the clear corners rather easily. The only drawback was my lack of tool variety.
