George Seel of Wisteria had staked a claim in the Omineca region. He was so impresssed with his claim near the Tahtsa river, that he carried out 1 ton of ore on his back and ferried it down the Tahtsa to the post office on Ootsa Lake. The smelter in Trail B.C. produced 34oz silver, 262 lbs lead, and 25 lbs zinc. While the property held commercial value, the cost to retreive it in 1926 would have been double. George's Claim is a Historical land site as well as a profitable mine if the location could be found. |
