As It Flows
September, 2004

I've spent days and nights both thinking.
I've spoken both with God and friends.
I've taken all the time I need.
I've finally reached the end.

Through the struggles and the triumphs,
And the tears I've shed for both,
I've managed to absorb the world,
Despite its lack of hope.

I've built mountains out of molehills
And cut people down to size.
I've lent countrymen my ear to burn
And watched the pale moon rise.

These heartaches and this hopelessness,
Debauchery in stride,
Both end up feeling meaningless
As they insult my pride.

I'm steadfast in my journey, though,
Despite the thoughts of foes
And every word I breathe tonight
Strengthens as it flows.

I can honestly tell you all that love is very tricky.  One day it will tell you that you and your chosen were meant to be together forever.  On other days, it will shovel doubt in your mind by the truckloads.  What I've learned from this is that if you are sincerely in love, all of the crap in the world will not matter one iota.  As long as you remain steadfast in your journey to be together, you will find your happiness.  There are some things in this world that are worth taking all the crap.
