The subject of the second drawing of the quarter will again be a still-life, although this time, a more complex one. You will again need to be careful during the sighting and measuring process to assure good proportional relationships. It will also be necessary for you to assess the local value and local color effectively. You will be working in the media of graphite and color pencil.
Of course the first thing you should do is create a few thumbnail studies of the subject to determine a good compositional arrangement of forms. Following this you should then begin developing a large drawing based on the composition you have selected from your thumbnail studies. You should be careful to render the proportions as accurately as possible. I strongly suggest that you include the "constructions lines" (rendered in a 4H pencil) in this under-drawing, as they can be erased later.
