Simulated Transparency - a type of color interaction in which opaque media produces the illusion of actual transparency.

Homework: If you did not complete the in-class simulated transparencey exercises complete them outside of class.   In addition, for
Project One, you will need a Mandala design that incorporates alot of overlapping shapes or forms.  The final work will  be 10" x 10."  Your color use should reflect experimental mixing, non-saturated color use and appropriate color selections to achieve the desired illusion of transparency.  A minimum of fifteen different colors is required Black and white may used to tint and shade but not directly from the tube.  Do not begin the project.  four thumbnails (2" x 2" or 4" x 4").

Project 1 will be due 29 Jan.

Additionally you will need to draw out on a sheet of Bristol eight 3.5" squares, eight 2" squares and eight 1" squares.  DO NOT cut the squares out. These are needed for Class Seven.

RESEARCH PAPER DUE DATE - Class 18 (5 March)
Earlier in the term I distributed a sheet with the specifics regarding the research paper.  Please check to make sure you have that document.

Class Six - 22 Jan
Today will be an in class work day on Project One.  Please bring all materials necessary for this.

Class Seven - 29 Jan

Project One is due.  We will explore Color Relativity.

Middle mixtures - are colors which are made by mixing two colors so that the resulting mixture is equadistant from both parent colors.
Monochromatic - A color scheme based on a single hue.  Monochromatic color schemes may include a range of values and saturation levels and may also included different versions of the same hue.
Analogous - A series of three or four adjacent hues on the color wheel.
Complementery - A pair of colors which are directly opposite each other on the color wheel.
Double Complementery - A color system based on two sets of complementary hues.
Split Complementery - This color system is based on the opposing dyad of a color.
Triadic - A color scheme defined by inscribing an equalateral triangle on the color wheel.  The result is a set of equidisdant hues.
Tetrad - This color scheme is based on four colors.  These colors are defined by inscribing a square or rectangle on the color wheel, the corners indicating the four colors.
