| Gentlemen's War: (snippet) Behind the scenes sit 9 gentlemen. With crossed legs, they congregate arond a musky brown table in a small room. They wear dark suits with cufflinks and matching tie clasps. They are smooth shaven with neatly cut hair. They drink their coffee with one hand, and shake their fists with the other. Other gentlemen, via a large screen television, join them. There are 3 of them. On the other side of the screen the men wear clothes that blend in with their surroundings, they have scuffles of hair around their chins, and they drink water from canteens. In heated debates they discuss worldly topics and make worldly decisions. Animosity and anger fill this room; but at the end of the day, hands are shaken with the utmost respect. They like to keep it "gentlemen-like." After all, they are gentlemen. Just behind the gentlemen on the other side of the screen, are thousands of younger men, troops, "gentlemen." Some seem to think otherwise [believing these men are not gentlemen], but those are the other guys. The other guys, in our eyes, are the bad guys, but who are we to judge, so I'll simply call them (out of respect..."the others." Please do not confuse respect with a personal liking. You can respect someone and not like them, and vice versa. So here we have, in one small room; no larger than a college dormitory: 9 gentlemen; a screen with 3 more gentlemen; groups of troops (gentlemen); and the others. All of them, of which, are a vital link of one chain for one cause...freedom. ..."The differance between me and him is, I'm not only fighting for my freedom, but for his too." A Marine infantryman whose identity is unknown quotes... PURCHASE THE BOOK |
