Advantages:
- Warp blast
- High survivability, 2+ save.
- Long Range Tank Smasher.
- Two types of blast to fit specific situations.
- Can Achieve a penetrating Range Hit vs. a Tank.
Dis-Advantages:
- Slow, Move 6"/Assault 6"
- Limited Range,
- Need Psych Test to activate Destructive Weapon (Str 10, AP1 Shot)
- Draws fire easily
- Expansive, Looking at 60pts when you add on the Warp blast.
Tactics for the Tyranids:
Zoans are good for tanks, and other monstrous creatures. However I find A Fex with a Venom cannon is just as effective. The major advantage the Zoan has it that it can get a penetrating hit with its warp blast.
Like the Biovores you must learn to use these bugs to get the full benefits.
Tactics against the Tyranids:
High strength weapons/ Low AP weapons., one Las cannon shot can kill a Zoan out right. Sure a Rocket launcher can achieve then same thing, but you have to remember that little 2+ save. These bugs are bet to leave alone for a turn or two, concentrate on the swarms first. Remember that Zoan needs to get in range, which takes time.
