Hive Fleet: Leviathan Infestation
Leviathan Infestation was first spotted in the 3rd quadrant of the Boz�cK System. On the authority of the Emperor�s adviser, Inquisitor Siynd Singr III, the second founding of the Blood Angles, De�th Reign was sent to investigate. Commanded by General Bamader, the entire Chapter was sent to the 3rd planet in the Boz�ck system. The Boz�ck system is mostly uninhabited for the fact there is not metal in the System. The third planet does have a huge lumber and grain resources with its vast forests and grazing plans. This planet was slated to be colonized, after a border dispute with the Tau has been resolved.
Commander Bamader set up post and sent out to patrols to survey the territory, not much was known about this planet from intelligence other then the atmosphere and basic topographical measurements. Quickly reports began to filter back about attacks and lost communications with many of the patrols. As General Bamader was reviewing the data and received transmission the Alert was sounded. The whole camp sprang to action and took up their defensive posts. Looking over the walls onto the field, Commander Bamader sighted, what has since been called the Leviathan Infestation for the first time. Swarms upon swarms of bugs stampeding across the plan on a collision course with the De�th Reign.
Liberian Askertis noted that the creature were insects, known as Tyranids. While only a few Chapters have ever encounter Tyranids, their reputation has spread throughout the Imperium. Liberian Askertis quickly pointed out that this race works off numbers and uses a swarm tactics. However he also observed that these creatures look different then the other encounter. The exoskeleton is brown in color, resembling more closely to the cockroaches that have been extinct for many many centuries.
On Bamader orders, Whirlwinds took the offensive as Bike and Speeder squads quickly moved into action to meet the swarms. Assault units move into to support the Fast attack squads while Devastator squads took position and laid down cover fire. Commander Bamader donned his Terminator Armor and joined his Terminator assault squad in the Command Crusader. De�th Reign moved into counter attack and attempted to repel this infestation invasion. Bolter rounds, Plasma blast and Laser cannon shots littered the shy. The field around the post began to fill up with the dying carcass of the swarms, but the swarm just did not seem to decrease is size. It just seemed to grow the more they were shot.
After many hours, Chaplain Loedm�r saw the battle, briefly turn in their favor as many of the swarms broke and ran to the woods. Just then he spotted huge lumbering shadows exiting the wood line. Quickly grabbing a target finder from the closest Marine he spotted Commander Bamader in a heated battle with this 20-ft tall beast with many fallen comrades littered about the area. The Command Crusader has been ripped apart and standing on top was this huge hunchback bug with two, what look to be guns on its sides. Turning to his Death Company, Loedm�r gave the command and took to the Generals aid, leaving Liberian Askertis in charge of the perimeter.
As Loedm�r �s squad took the charge the beast ripped into Commander Bamader throwing his mortally wounded body 50 feet into a crater. Loedm�r and his men made quick work of the wounded beast, but not before he took down 3 of Loedm�r men. Picking up the wounded commander the squad gazed over what was once a beautiful plane of wheat and flowers. The field was now littered with destroyed Rhinos and Land Raiders. Bugs upon bugs laid dead, outnumbering the fallen marines easily 10 to 1. Loedm�r look up at the post in time to see the walls collapse and swarms upon swarms filter in followed by the lumbering creatures.
Chaplain Loedm�r was rescued many weeks later by a Tau Recon Patrol, Loedm�r retold his account to Shiv�oshik of the Air Caste. On his deathbed he requested that the De�th Reign die with him after the disgraceful defeat under the name of the Emperor.
Since this sighting the Leviathan Infestation has laid waste to 25 worlds. 3 complete Space Marines Chapters have been beaten to the point they can field a sizable army for many years. Eldar has faired no better. Dark Eldar has lost many Retinue and worlds also to the feet of the Leviathan Infestation. Tau will not even engage the army after the defeated on the Moon of Chi��jkie, were half the forces pick up and ran in fear. Orks have faired slightly better pushing the swarm back briefly from the planet of ORAKYAA. Only to have the Leviathan Infestation return stronger, malicious and more determine. Sister of Battle had repelled the treat on Alpha Prime in the Modpca System. It was reported from Alpha Prime that the Infestation was driven back and has not return for many years.
The Leviathan Infestation has not enter the control world of Chaos, do they hold the key to stopping this Infestation. And there is the Necron treat, Reports have seen these two battling on scatter planets but nothing has been confirmed past hear say.
