frenchtown
new jersey
frenchtown is the town i call my home. we
moved here the last week of january 2000, so we've been here a little less than a year.
but it's quickly grown readily apparent that this is the place we were meant to
call home. we fit into the town's atmosphere very very quickly. frenchtown is
a little like new hope pennsylvania in that there's a large emphasis on art here.
there are loads of galleries and unique shops. there are also quite a few
antique shops, but not nearly as many as were in flemington new jersey a few years ago,
and generally of much higher quality too.
there are also a few really good places to eat
here too. galasso's makes great italian food...we get loads of subs and take out
italian there, and it's all really good. the best burgers in southern hunterdon
county can be bought at the bridge cafe, literally on the waterfront by the bridge to
pennsylvania. what used to be loafers is now cocina del sol, a fantastic mexican
restaurant where anything you order is bigger than your stomach can comfortably handle (my
fave...the basic burrito...yum!). some of the best ice cream and coffee can be had
at bucks coffee and ice cream...you have to try their hazelnut cappacino. it's an
addiction.
frenchtown is an old town, and loads of the
houses here have a distinctive victorian look and feel to them. eventually i'll take
you on a virtual tour of some of the nicest looking houses in town, as well as other
landmarks/highlights/must see places, like the gallery and the mews/muse. but for
now, i thought you'd like to see where frenchtown is. i've included thumbnails on
this page linking to maps from expedia/streets & trips and microsoft's terraserver
project. they'll give you a little bit of an idea where frenchtown is, and what it
looks like from the sky.
this link takes you
to a relief map of the mid atlantic region of the US.
this link takes you to a terraserver sky image of the frenchtown area.
this link takes you
