Protect the Earth

Annual Darwin Day

“To You”

To think of all that could have been,
All that never was,
My world in a crystal ball,
Shattered as it struck the desert sand
A vista of ashes,
Mingling with the endless dunes;
To think I could
Realize all these hopeless hopes,
Vacillating in the vacuum of my dreams;
To re-open my sunburnt eyelids
Into a tan wilderness,
Grit in my mouth and bile in my throat;
To lose the last bastion of my hope,
The Earth rupturing its foundation
Of white chrysanthemums;
All this I owe
To you.
