| Toby and CJ walk into the outer area of the Oval Office hand-in-hand. The good mood they had been in earlier was forgotten when they were paged in. They wait for Debbie to tell them they can go in. "He's in with people from NASA, the FBI, and Kate Harper right now. He'll be finished in a few minutes." Toby turns to look at CJ, who has aged years in the drive to the White House. "Toby, I'm sorry." Toby wipes the tears off CJ's face with his thumb, for once not caring about the other people in the office. He looks at her, running his thumbs over the lines on her face, memorizing ever last one, and she leans into his touch, needing the contact. "It's okay, CJ. I understand." Debbie clears her throat to get their attentino. "You can go in now." Toby pulls CJ close and kisses her forehead before they turn and walk into the Oval Office. The President is sitting in the chair facing the door, his cane by his side. Kate Harper and some other men CJ assumes work for NASA and the FBI are sitting on the couches. "Godd afternoon, Mr. President. You wanted to see us?" The President looks at CJ. "We found the leak." She nods and looks at Toby. "I'm sorry, Mr. President. I..." The President wasn't finished talking, and the look he shoots CJ tells her so. "It was someone at NASA. He felt that I should send someone to save his colleagues, so he called up a reporter." CJ is so shocked she's dizzy, and would have fallen down right there if Toby wasn't supporting her. "Someone at NASA, sir?" President Bartlet nods. "Yeah, so we're gonna need you guys here. No more vacation time." CJ can't speak at the moment, so Toby steps in. "Would you excuse us, Mr. President? CJ and I need to go make some calls." The President nods and Toby leads CJ to her office. Once inside her office with the door closed, CJ turns to Toby. "It was someone at NASA!" He nods. "I thought I told....I need to call him." She turns and picks up the phone, dialing the number from memory. "It's CJ. What exactly did I tell you the other night? I thought I...but I didn't. So, what exactly happened the other night?" |

| CJ holds the door open for Toby to walk into her house. "So, I'm gonna get out of these wet clothes, and then you're gonna tell me why I should give up all this to help some guy become president, deal?" Toby nods. "Do you need help finding your room? Ya know, 'cause you've got about a million rooms in here and we wouldn't want you to end up in a closet by mistake. And, seeing as how you think you canwalk on water, I think it's safe to assume you think you can also walk through walls." She glares at him. "For the last time, Toby, I can't see because I don't have my contacts in and I broke my glasses. I think I can find my way around my own house." "You'd think you could walk around your own backyard, too, but you proved a minute ago that you can't." With a sign, CJ turns around to talk to her room and walks right into the stair railing. Laughing, Toby grabs her arm and leads her up the stairs. He shoves her in the direction of her room and laughs. "You need some help changing?" At her glare, he decides that going downstairs would be much safer than standing there making fun of his wet best friend. "I'm gonna make some coffee. Get cleaned up and dried off and then we'll talk about Bartlet and, you know, getting you some new glasses." |
