| Visual Culture of the British Isles |
| Contributions are invited to the publication in Spring 2004 of the first issue of Causeway, the journal of the Association for Promoting Research in British Isles History, on the subject of visual culture. The vast scope of this subject allows a wide variety of approaches from researchers interested in iconography and visual communication in any or all of the cultures of the British Isles. Articles not restricted to a single country are especially welcome. Possible areas of reflection might include: - visual propaganda - the discourse of advertisement - typography and politics - megalithic art - cartography, flags and national symbols - political murals and grafitti - self-representation in cinema and television - illuminated manuscripts: a shared heritage? - national art and national art galleries Articles accepted in English or French. Proposals (max. 300 words) + short bibliography + short biography to be sent by 20 December 2003 to the editors at [email protected] Guidelines for contributors available on request. |
