| As Moses lifted up the snake and all who saw were saved so you, you must be lifted too how can this be the plan? Son of Man how can the author of the Word envision something so absurd? Christ abandoned on a tree, why would you die to rescue me? why would you die? why would you? why? then I recall the empty tomb sweet/spicy smell, this earthbound womb birthing space of life from dark the angels guard an empty ark this God who loved the world so much reach out with humble, human touch as Moses lifted up the snake so Christ was lifted and by grace, through faith, we too are lifted up we break the bread and take the cup Jennifer Gordon 2003 |
