When it comes to shear beauty, Brice Canyon is in a special class. It is a rococco piece of erosion art. Thousands of hoodoos carved by wind and water stand witness to God's awesome majesty.
When ever I get to Kanab, Utah, I feel I am in my own corner of heaven. Any direction you care to go in, you will find the grandest landscapes God has allowed us to view. Just ahead, to the north, the vermillian Cliffs present their awesome red battlements. Behind you is the Kaibab monocline, which you can ascend to reach the Grand Canyon itself. That wonder of wonders.
Go on north on hwy 89 as it swings around a break in the Vermillion Cliffs, and you will get to the road to Zion. Beautiful, beautiful Zion, trough the tunnel and the Jourassic rocks rising to the throne of God Himself. Or so the Mormans imagined. And further up that magic road, to Brice.
Back in Kanab, you can go back east on 89, and you will get to Buckskin Gulch, which segues into the Paria river canyon. A magnificent slot, which joins Marble Canyon and the Colorado River at Lees Ferry.
