Upgrade to V90

V90 UPGRADE

If your Presario came with a 56K modem, it probably was a WinLT modem made by Lucent Technologies that only conformed to the KFLEX protocol. You have probably been connecting at speeds very much less than 56K...probably in the 26K-33K range. This is because almost all of the server modems are wired for V90 protocol. The following models are upgradeable to the V90 standard: 1215, 1220, 1230, 1232, 1234, 1235, 1236, 1237, 1238, 1240, 1250, 1252, 1610, 1611, 1620, 1621, 1622, 1624, 1625, 1626, 1630, 1635, 1636, 1640, 1650, 1655, 1680, 1681, 1682, 1805, and 1810.
If your model is listed above, then click HERE

If your Presario Laptop is not listed above, you may be able to upgrade your modem if it is a LTModem.
To find out if your Presario is upgradeable...
Click Start - Find - Files and Folders.
In the blank space, type Ltmodem.vxd and hit enter.
If C:\Windows\System\Ltmodem.vxd appears...then you can proceed with this upgrade by clicking HERE.... if you don't have this file... the only alternative is to send me an email, giving me the model of your Presario and describing your problem. Click here to send email.
