Our story begins in November of 94. I was on my way home from work, coming down with a cold. I stopped at our local drug store to get some "meds." On my way back to the drug counter I thought to myself . . . better make sure we're not having a baby before I dope myself up on medicines.....
This was a good idea, for I took the pregnancy test and WHAMO!!!!! It was positive; we got a check mark for "YES." Later that week David and I were chatting about how many weeks I was...we pinpointed it to around four weeks. I said to him, "You know that check mark showed up fast. Do you think it could be twins? " He said, "No, two check marks would have appeared, if that was so!" (ha! ha! The joke was on him.)
Later, after Christmas, I called my OB because I was having a serious pain in the lower part of my stomach. After a complete physical exam from the Doc, he could not find a reason for the pain. He suggested an ultrasound to investigate further. During the beginning of the ultrasound my husband asked the Doc, "Just what are the odds of us having twins?" He went on telling him of our history of twins. The Doc began to say, "This is your first pregnancy, and most twin pregnancies are flukes and often do not occur in a first time pregnancy . . ." The assistant doing the ultrasound spoke up and said, "Take that all back; the reason she is in pain so early is . . . there IS TWO! My husband's eyes got really BIG and he sank to the floor. At seven 1/2 weeks, we knew we were having twins . . .
