There are many twins in our immediate family. Austin and Ashli are the sixth set of twins between my family and my husband's family.
Let's start with my husband, David's, side of the family:
David's father, Allen, has an identical twin brother named Alton.
David's brother, Allen Ray, has a set of identical twin girls named Aimee and Arica.
As for my side of the family, it reads like this:
Lynn's father, Willard, has a fraternal> twin sister named Mary.
Willard's brother, Daryl, has a set of identical twin boys named Ricky and Randy.
Lynn's mother, Nancy, has a set of ferternal twin sisters named Alma and Alta.
From the research we have done, we have found that only one set of these twins played a role in the birth of Austin and Ashli. I inherited the ability to release two eggs from my mother's mother. My grandmother, Elva, had fraternal twin girls. It skipped a generation with my mother, and came to me; I had fraternal twins. Now you would think the fact that my father is a fraternal twin might help the odds. . . but no. The inherited ability only follows the maternal side of the family.
