Bibles and Tracts Donated for Katrina Shelters in Houston, Texas
Matthews Ministry donated around 100 New Testaments, and 300+ tracts to our local church, the Christian Church of San Angelo, who will be making arrangements to transport them to the Houston shelters. CNN reported Monday, Sept.5 there are over one million people in shelters across the state of Texas. There are many shelters across the whole United States in need of religious materials, clothes, food, etc. and so if you are able to donate to a relief shelter do so.

Plans to Volunteer in Hurricane Shelter.
Many of you may not know that I a few years back I was a Red Cross volunteer in San Angelo, TX where I wrote the newsletter for the Red Cross and worked to evaluate schools and buildings that could be used as shelters in a disaster relief program.
Also, you more that likely dont know that I was a victim of a tornado when I was very young. I still remember the relief truck that brought us sandwiches, water, etc. I know how important it is to know that people care about you when you have been in that situation.
Ive been on both sides of disaster response. I heard that San Angelo, TX is going to be home to a few hundred of the hurricane victims. My wife Tina and I are hoping to volunteer at the shelter where they will be housed. I called the Red Cross in San Angelo, today and signed us up for the class. If you are in the San Angelo area you can volunteer at the shelter by calling the American Red Cross at 658-4409.

Our Wedding

I dont think that many of you knew that I was engaged to Tina who is a partner in this ministry. We were married on July 23rd, 2005! So July was really spent getting ready for the wedding. Tina and I took two weeks off and went to New York, NY. We loved the city when we were there on our mission trip a few months ago we wanted to go back and take in the sights.
We had a great time in NYC. We also just a chance to see very briefly Kumar our guide from Mission NYC when we were on our mission trip in March.
We had a great and wonderful time on the Honeymoon. We really love New York City,  However we are glad to be back in San Angelo.
We are ready to serve God as a couple!

Prayer Page Update
The prayer site is going good, however there is still a huge need for prayer warriors. If youd like to be a prayer warrior just pray for a request just post a reply to the request to let the people in need of prayer know that you are praying for them. You need to bookmark the prayer site or set it up as your homepage.
Please respect the privacy of the people that you are requesting prayers for so no address, e-mail, or phone numbers. Believe me God knows who they are. So please keep this personal information personal! Last names and cities of people are ok, but not their home address. Thanks.
Please bookmark the
Matthews Ministry Prayer Page and check it weekly and pray for the requests.
