| My life as a food lover started when I began reading Ms. IRENE virbila's food reviews in the LA TIMES. I loved to read about food and food loved to be around me =) Though my food expertise is somewhat limited, I do believe that I have a keen sense of what is yummaricious.I guarantee every spot I've been to =) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| How to Impress your date kinda places: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1) PAMPAS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mmmmm | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The San Diego Hot spots & miscellaneous | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| from la jolla, take 805 South to Balboa east, make a right at Convoy, make a left at AERO drive and follow the curve left and you'll see Pampas among random stores in the middle of nowhere on your left side Excellent empanadas (carne of course) but they are a little expensive for the size. If you love meat, then you and your date or friend can share 2 orders of the parillada completa. It is absolutely wonderful!! it comes with steak, a rib, chorizo and sweetbreads. I dont know what sweetbreads are, but i love em. Definitely order them medium well because those Argentines know how to grill em to a crisp. Sunday nights, there is live music and it is just lovely to look at the very cooool south american flava decor even though the restaurant is near random buildings. Guys MUST order their dates the "panqueques con dulce de leche". Ask the server to decrease the amt of alcohol they use to flame the dessert. I guarantee that your date will be so swept off her feet that you will get that 2nd date. |

| 2) Ocean view at a moderate price..Click on SBICCA it is in the quaint neighborhood of Del Mar and you MUST make reservations (online or by phone). The crab cakes are the most delightful with the right amount of spice and tender crab meat. I've never had such good crab cakes before. Their spinch salad is pretty good. I usually order it when I've already eaten a lot the whole day. Their dessert is mediocre, so I suggest that you go across the street to L'Auberge which has live jazz music sunday evening. Everything else is typical of a bistro/italian/french restaurant.- don't order their coffee..folger's tastes better 3) Ocean view a la ELEGANCE. The Marine Room 858-459-7222. Menu&restaurant info here!. it's a great "I want to be with you the rest of my life" kinda place. There's a live quartet that plays soft music perfect for dancing while watching the waves roll. Order the cobblestone pie...it's excellent! 4) The Beach House - located at Cardiff-by-the sea. It is a very inexpensive way to impress your date. I would like to have my 21st bday party or wedding reception there! They have 1/2 price dinners between 4:30-6 pm everyday. www.thebeachhouse.com I highly recommend making reservations! Get the creme brulee!! they give lot |

| CHEAP EATS, PLEASE!! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1) Alborz (Greek/Persian) It';s located right off Del Mar Heights Rd. Each dish can feed 3 semi-hungry or 2 hungry people. sandwiches are 3.99 and higher. 2) Arirang on convoy - they got some korean bbq and jap chae and so many other goodies for the all you can eat buffet at 5.99 !! 3) Do Re Mi house Some good korean grub under 10 bucks (that;s cheap here in san diego) east of clairemont and convoy. 4)Everybody at UCSD knows El Coti's but I think that place sucks. LA has much better burritos like at Chano's on figueroa, near USC or Olympic Burger (burritos a la korean style) on vermont and olympic. * if you crave burritos in sd, you might as well drive near the border, aka Chula Vista yummy mexican food town. They have the BEST tacos ive ever had, but it's a minimum 25 minute drive from UCSD. Tacos El Gordo charges 1.25 for carne asada taco and they also have cow head, brain, pork shoulder, pork intestine. and cow tongue tacos. my friends wouldnt let me try the taco de lengua (tongue), but i did try the cow head and carne asada. Dang they were good. take the 805 South and exit plaza, make a right, and then make a left at highland ave...you;ll see tacos el gordo on your right side. NEVER GO BACK TO COTI's or ROBERTO's **update, i got to eat the taco de lengua..it was so good!!!!!! so there pat! =P 5) El Salvadoreno - The ONLY and BEST El Salvadorean restaurant in san diego!! You must order the pupusa de chicharron con frijoles or con queso and for dessert, get platanos con crema or empanadas con platanos! The reason why this eatery is so great is because the food is served by true "salvies" with a passion for giving you their real home cooking. MMmmmm! It is located close to Downtown SD off the 94 east fwy at 28th street and Imperial Ave. You can look it up on Yahoo yellow pages for directions. They got the coolest soda called KolaChampan. It's like the orangey, fanta, crazy yummy soda! |

| Where Can I PARTY on?! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1)Cafe Sevilla in downtown. Juliana took me there for my bday..really awesome brazilian band on sunday nights...definitely worth the 7 bucks...haha and vic ate the rice and beans...hehe 2) Joe's crab shack. ive been there a few times for bday parties. they screwed up once on me by giving my party the crappy middle of nowhere table, but usually, you;ll find good fun and some yummy seafood. 3) The FIELD - irish pub. (5th ave near greystone) ooh i love that irish accent. We went there for neil's bday...got some corned beef and cabbage..yeah! |

| My Personal Faves At SD | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1) Chateau Orleans - THE MOST AWESOME and SPICY Cajun food in san diego..I like redfish too, but i think chateau orleans has a real "new orleans" feel to it. The waiters are all super friendly and cool. I think my favorite waiter was jason. 2)Sushi On the ROCK - well not the absolute best sushi, but definitely an interesting atmosphere and an affordable happy hour menu...FO SHO. My faves are the spicy crab hand roll and the incredible hulk 3)Come On IN ! - located in downtown la jolla. www.comeonincafe.com. I really like the breadsticks and the bread..YUMMY. baked fresh everyday. they have goodies galore and I absolutely love the mediterranean eggplant appetizer..they have great salads and yummy panini. 4) Harry's Coffee Shop - also located in downtown la jolla..They have the whole old school diner atmosphere. the waitresses are sweet and the oatmeal pancakes are so light and fluffy..and the hashbrowns beat Denny's by soooo much. 5) Moo-Time Creamery - the one in La JOlla near Ralphs and Tower Records...Jeremy is one of the coolest workers there...Great ICE CREAM! I LOVE ICE CREAM |
