Meet the Smith family, like many other families they have had to adjust to their new life with alternative energy. Their cars like many other now run on solar and electric power, but this is a big change. The cars are no longer able to run as fast as they used to and now you must plug them in when you get home or they will not work the next day. Alternative energy has also lead to many improvements, the environment is much cleaner because of it the prices of everyday life have gone down and we are no longer dependent on oil for an unstable middle east. Now lets see what a day in the life of the Smith family is like. As Mr. Smith wakes up he is complaining about how cold it is inside, his wife tells him that the storm last night messed up one of the solar panels and that he needs to go up there a fix it. Not something Mr. Smith likes to do, he liked the old days with gas and oil power, he does not understand why everyone had not change over to all this alternative energy, he just sees it as much more work. His wife on the other hand loves the new way of life. She loves to be able to look outside and see the green grass and the blue sky free of many of the pollutants commonly seen in the past. As Mr. Smith returns from the roof after fixing the solar panels he gets ready to run off to work but as he goes to his cars he find that his son did not plug it back in after he used the car last night. Mr. Smith angrily walks back into the kitchen to wait for his wife and kid, as he will have to get dropped off in her car. As the Smiths leave for work and school I go my own way contemplating this new way of life and trying to think if it really is better then the old way.
