It is believed that the ancestors of Mooleplackal Family have been Christians since about 400 years originating with one Thomas who was a Namboothiri Brahmin from north Parur. His successors are believed to have migrated to Aruvithura near Palai and from there further to MANIMALA - CHERUVALLY - Chirakkadavu area in Kottayam district. Cheruvally Amma's family is believed to be Christian for over thousand years, her ancestors having migrated form Thumpamon area in south kerala to Manimala as Kiahakkethazham family. Both fathers and mothers families opted for Roman Catholic Faith probably in the 17th century following the "Conna Cross" vow of Mattancherry in 1650, before which the vast majority of Kerala Christians were Syrian Orthdox, the majority being "Knanaya" Christians. In fact there is no way to know when our forefathers settled in Cheruvally village and established the MOOLEPLACKAL tharavad but it is at least hundred and fifty years ago.
