Ajman : The first batch of
medical and physiotherapy graduates of the Gulf Medical College in Ajman (GMCA) were
awarded degrees and certificates at a grand convocation ceremony attended by His Highness
Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, held at
Ajman Kempinski Hotel and Resort on 18th May 2005.
The Ruler presented degrees
to 77 MBBS and 17 Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) students at the convocation which was
packed with students and parents and attended by several local dignitaries including
Shaikh Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman Rulers Court Ajman and B.Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen,
Chairman of B.A.Group India.
Some students were also
presented with special appreciation certificates for their outstanding academic
performance during their study at the GMCA. Addressing the graduates, Thumbay Moideen,
Founder President of GMCA, expressed the hope that the university will be a benchmark in
the field of medical education in the region.
GMCA will prove to be a
trendsetter in providing quality education, he said, congratulating the fresh graduates.
Moideen noted that the GMCA degrees are now recognised by the Ministry of Education and
will be accepted throughout the world.
The first graduates of
GMCA, after successful completion of their internship programme at Al Mafraq Hospital, Al
Jaziera Hospital and other leading hospitals in the UAE and overseas have shown their
mettle in the recently competitive examinations conducted by the Ministry of Health in the
UAE and Bahrain. With this achivement, GMCA graduates can practise anywhere in the UAE -
both in hospitals as well as clinics. Moideen said, adding they can also pursue their
postgraduation studies/specialistation anywhere in the world. Several graduates have
passed their Medical Council of India (MCI) examination held in India recently, he
disclosed, assuring graduates and their parents of the recognition granted by the medical
fraternity to the UAE institution. Professor Rangaswami, Dean of the College, highlighted
the salient features of UAE's first private medical college which caters to both boys and
girls of all nationalities. |
