About ITS
SEPULUH NOPEMBER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) was established at November 3rd 1960 based on “SK Menteri Pendidikan dan Pengajaran No 93367/U.U”, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology was transformed from Sepuluh Nopember Engineering College that was established by Sepuluh Nopember College Foundation at November 10th, 1957. When established, it only had 5 Faculties, they were : Civil Engineering Faculty (FTS), Mechanical Engineering Faculty (FTM), Ship Engineering Faculty (FTP), Electrical Engineering Faculty (FTE) and Chemistry Engineering Faculty (FTK).
Since established, ITS always tried to develope, and make himself as the biggest Institute of Technology especially in East Indonesia. In 1965, ITS opened 2 new Faculties, they were Science and Nature Science Faculty (FIPIA) and Architecture Engineering Faculty (FTA).
Based on " Peraturan Pemerintah No. 5 tahun 1980 " and " Peraturan Pemerintah No. 27 tahun 1981 ", it was realized with " Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan No. 0144/O/1983 ". ITS must restructure and ITS only had 5 Faculty, Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Electrical Engineering Faculty, Chemistry Engineering Faculty and Physic Engineering Department was joined and became to Industrial Technology Faculty (FTI). So, Industrial Technology Faculty was Mechanical Engineering Department, Electrical Engineering Department, Chemistry Engineering Department and Physic Engineering Department. Four other Faculty was Civil and Planning Engineering Faculty was the merger between Civil Engineering Faculty and Architecture Engineering Faculty (FTSP). Mathematic and Nature Science Faculty (FMIPA) replaced FIPIA, Offshore Technology Faculty (FTK) replaced with FTP, and Non Degree Tachnology Faculty (FNGT) was eliminated and each of them was part of their major.
In 1998 there was a new department, they were Biology Department and it was part of FMIPA. In 1999 there was a new department, they were Material Department and it was part of FTI.
