THE EVENT:
The Online Programming Contest (OPC), now rechristened as Dark Matterz, is aimed at the astute computer programmer, which tests his skills in the major areas of programming, viz, problem solving and logic development. It is a quest to locate a programmer with a fine balance of these essential skills.
RULES:

It is an individual event.

The event starts at 1900 hrs (IST) on Friday 18th August 2006.

Contestants have to register online with their email id for the event just as they do for any other event.

Permissible languages to send solutions in, are:

At 1900(IST) hrs problem definitions will be displayed on our Website directly. Participants will have to submit their solutions before 0700 hrs(IST) next day.
- Only submissions which reach us within this 12 hour limit will be evaluated (unless the duration is extended). Solutions can be submitted in any order. However, there will be an upper limit of ONE for submitting the solution of a problem. That is, no more than ONE submission will be allowed for any given problem. Only the first solution will be accepted, others will be all discarded for a given problem.
- Submission has to be done in proper format, failing which the entries shall not be accepted. The procedure for submitting the problems will be disclosed before the start of the contest.
- Each problem will have a certain input format and a certain output format (which will be specified with the problem). This format has to be adhered to; else the submission will not be accepted.
- Each contestant will be awarded certain number of points for each question depending on the difficulty of the

- The contest will proceed in two stages: Preliminary stage & Finals
- During the Preliminary round: All those who managed to secure a
minimum of 1000 points successfully qualify for the finals.
- During The Final round : The contestant with the maximum points will be declared the
winner. In case 2 or more contestants end up with the maximum as well as same number of points, then the efficiency of their programs shall be used as tiebreaking criteria.
- If any individual is found to copy source code of other individual teams, or from the internet, that individual will be immediately disqualified.
- Any team which attempts to hack/deliberately crash the judging system will be immediately disqualified.
- The decision of the organizers in declaring the results will be final. No queries in this regard will be entertained.
- The event does not require the participants to be present in VJTI for participation. And hence, no registration fees are required.
