My name is Jiri Prantl (born on 18.9.1975 in Usti upon Elbe, Czech rep.), I started studying at The Conservatoire in Teplice at the age of 13 under the leading of Prof. J.Kment from Czech Philharmonic (six years).
I had gone on double bass at The Academy of Performing Arts Prague at the class of Doc.Radomir Zalud (Principal in the Czech Radio symphony orchestra) since 1996. I graduated this College with M.D. in June 2000. I additionaly joined a pedagogical course which finished with M.D. at the same year.
From my foreign studies I would mention three months long scholarship at Utrecht school of Arts with Prof. Braendstrup (Principal in Concertgebau, Amsterodam) in 1999 and another scholarship at Toho Gakuen School of Music Tokyo - Toyama campus with which I was offered after graduation.
I also joined double bass masterclassess: with Mr. Thomas Lom (Principal in Radio Symphony orchestra Stuttgart, Germany) three times and with Mr. Gary Karr in 1999.
My profesional experience: Since 3rd year of The Conservatoire I had been a member of the orchestra of the City Opera House in Usti upon Elbe and even a member of The Benda's chamber orchestra (three years).
After graduation The Conservatoire I played in The North Czech Philharmonic in Teplice (one year).
During my studies in Prague I played with some chamber orchestras ie.:
The Prague Mozart Symphony Orchestra,
The Prague Royal String Orchestra,
Solisti di Praga,
Berg Chamber Orchestra (specialized on contemporary music).
At the season 1998/1999 I was invited by Stamic quartet, to perform Dvorak's String Quintet.
Since 1999 until my departure to Mexico I had been a member of the extended Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and The Czech Screen Orchestra with which I had participated on numerous recordings of music for films and DVDs.
Currently I am the Principal Double Bass of The Chamber Orchestra of Merida, Yucatan, Mexiko. I also teach the Double Bass at Instituto de Cultura de Yucatan.
