My Sister

Dear little sister so pretty
and tender
Just when you came into my life,
I don't remember.

Knitted snow suites, one pink
and one blue
One for me and one for you.

Roller skates for Christmas one
year
We could hardly wait to try them,
with no fear.

Then there was the new bike for us
to learn to ride
Soon we were sweet sixteen and
learning to drive.

We double dated and went
everywhere together
Working and school, things
couldn't be better.

Sodas, sundies, banana splits
A nickle in the jute box played
the top hits.

Then we got married..you had your
kids and I had mine
Visiting back and forth all the time!

Those times we had together
Crying, playing and laughing..

Then suddenly one day you were gone
from my life
No more little-sister phone calls
and the like.

As I ponder these fond memories I
can't help but think
Someday we'll be together again in
that earth made new
No more tears or suffering and I'll
be together again with YOU!!
