The Prague International Poetry Festival is a major literary event with an organic Prague-base. The Festival focuses on local and regional poets, as well as poets from as far afield as India, Australia, Singapore, and the United States. The purpose of the festival is both to serve a long-standing need within the Prague literary community as well as to foster cultural exchange between writers, editors, publishers and institutions beyond the mere spectacle of a "literary event." The Festival invites a broad participation by all those concerned with the state of contemporary poetry.
The 1st Prague International Poetry Festival is a co-operative event, organised through the InterCultural Studies Programme at Charles University with Shakespeare & Sons Bookstore. The PIPF is a non-profit event. We thank the poets, translators, editors, volunteers and our many sponsors for assisting in making the Festival possible.
The 2nd Triennial
PRAGUE INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL
will take place in May, 2007.
