In the
praetorium, the soldiers placed an old robe on Jesus in mockery of His
claim to be a king. He did not have to put up with this humiliation.
This wasn't a requirement on the part of the Son of God; He had
volunteered for this assignment.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
Blessed are thou among
women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus crowned
with thorns.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
