Jesus was
bound to a pillar and cruelly scourged until His whole body was covered
with deep wounds.
The
unrelenting torture and the merciless cruelty became the backdrop of
darkness that contrasted the brightness of Christ's sacrifice for us.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
Blessed are thou among
women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus scourged.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
