A very old woman whose name
was Anna, and to whom God spoke as to a prophet, also saw, through the
help of the Holy Spirit, that this little Child was Christ the Lord, and
she gave thanks to God for this grace. A widow
of many years, she was well acquainted with grief. She, perhaps better
than anyone else, knew what Simeon's words would mean for Mary.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
Blessed are thou among
women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus sacrificed.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
