| Bint- a small, fresh-water fish which inhabits the rivers of the rainforests inland of Shendi, a large school of bints can strip a carcass in minutes, similar to Earth's pirahna. Eel- a voracious animal which can main or kill a slave within moments, some varieties are edible and considered a Gorean delicacy, varieties include: black, spotted and the river eel. Gint- a tiny, fresh-water fish which inhabits the rivers of the rainforests, it has bulbous eyes and flipper-like fins, amphibious, having both gills and lungs; its capable of walking on its pectorial fins, often in company of tharlarion, feeding off the scraps of their kill. Grunt- a large, carnivorous, salt-water fish that inhabits Thassa, is often attracted by the blood of a wounded creature, much like Earth's shark. Three species of grunts are: blue, great-speckled and white-bellied. Lelt- a small, blind fish with fern-like filaments on each side of its head which are its sensory organs, white, with long fins, it swims slowly and is the main food of the salt shark, inhabits the brine pits such as those of Klima in the Tahari. Mamba- large, predatory, river tharlarion, which inhabits the rivers of the rainforest, they have long, log-like bodies, with short, powerful legs and a long snout and tail; similar to Earth's crocodiles. Marine Saurian- fish-like predator, with long, toothed snouts that are silent and aggressive; sailors fear them as they do the long-bellied sharks. Marine Saurian, Reptilian- reptilian-like scavengers, found in Thassa, more than 20 feet in length, it has a long neck and small head with rows of small teeth. Its appendages are broad-like paddles. Marsh Moccasin- narrow, dark, poisonous snake about 5 feet long and a triangular head, it inhabits the waters of the Vosk Delta. Oysters- shell-fish from the Vosk, served raw or baked Parsit- a silvery fish having brown stripes Salamanders- an inhabitants of the brine pits of the salt mines of the Tarhari, they are white and blind, with long stem-like legs and feathered gills. Sharks- there are several species of sharks on Gor, salt-water and fresh-water, the common shark is 9 gilled and its skin is rough and abrasive. Varieties include: river, salt, marsh, Vosks and Larius sharks. Sea Sleen- long, sleek mammal with flippers, 6 legs and double jawed fangs, can weigh as much as 1000 pounds and reach up to 20 feet in length, hunted by the Red Hunters for the pelt and food, There are 4 varieties of sea sleens in the North including: black, brown, tusked and flat-nosed sleen. Sorp- a shell-fish like the oysters, produces pearls. Tharlarion, River- extremely large, herbivorous web-footed lizards used by bargemen of the Cartius River to pull barges. Tharlarion, Tiny Water- described not as much as "teeth and tail" , this tiny scavenger follows the wake of the larger water tharlarion and is not much larger than 6 inches long. It inhabits the marshes. Turtle, Vosk- can grow to be gigantic, these animals are carnivorous, aggressive and persistant, can be difficult to kill. Whales- there are several varieties of whales on Gor including the : Karl, baleen, Hunjer and the rare, toothed black whale. Wingfish- tiny, blue, salt-water fish with 4 poisonous spines on its dorsal fin, found in the waters of Port Kar, it's liver is considered a delicacy in Turia. Wingfish, Cosian- also known as a songfish due to it's whistling mating song. |
