Birds of Gor
Finch, Whistling- flighted bird found on the ground level of the rainforest, it is insectivorous.

Fisher, Tufted- a water bird which inhabits the rivers of the rainforests inland of Shendi.

Fisher, Ushindi- a tufted-waterbird of the rainforests, it has long white feathers and long legs.

Fleer- large, hook-billed bird which hunts at night.

Fleer, Prairie- yellow bird with long wings and sharp bill; sometimes called "the maize bird" or "corn bird" from the belief that it is usually the first bird to find food.

Gant, Arctic- migratory bird that nests on cliffs of the Hrimgar Mountains, the southern border of the polar north. When frozen, their eggs are eaten like apples.

Gant, Jungle- a bird, related to the marsh gant, which inhabits the rainforests

Gant, Marsh- a long-legged marsh bird with a piping cry

Gim, Horned- a small owl-like bird, which inhabits the forests of Northern Gor.

Gim, Lang- an insectivorous bird that inhabits the rainforests of Shendi.

Gim, Hook-billed- a carnivorous, hunting bird of the rainforests which prey on ground urts.

Gull, Coasting- found in Torvladsland, this broad-winged bird, with black tips on its wings and tail feathers, similar to the Vosk Gull, its feathers are used on the war arrows Torvladsland.

Gull, Shendi- inhabiting the area around Shendi on the Thassa, they nest on land at night.

Gull, Vosk- a gull on the Vosk Delta and Vosk River, it apparently it has a loud or insistant cry, which is imitated by the rence people as a communication at night. It's feathers are used on sheaf arrows, it winters on the prairies with the Wagon Peoples and flies North in the spring when the ice breaks up.

Herlit- Gorean eagle having a wingspan of 6-8 feet, its carnivorous and has yellow feathers dipped in black, alson called "sun striker" or "out of the sun it strikes" , from its habit of striking with the sun above and behind it; inhabits the Barrens.

Hermit, Yellow-Breasted- a bird of the northern forest, it beats with a sharp beak against trees; such as the Tur Trees in search of larvae.

Ivory-billed Woodpecker- a bird found in the lower-canopies of the rainforests.

Jard- a small, yellow-winged, scavenger bird of the rainforests

Kites- a type of bird with a shrill cry.

Lit- 3 varieties of this bird are found in the rainforests of Shendi: common, crested and needle-tailed.

Mindar- a short-winged, yellow and red bird of the rainforests; with it's sharp bill it digs in the bark of flower trees for larvae and bugs.

Parrot- bird found in the rainforests around Shendi.

Tanager- another bird of the rainforest

Tarn- crested, hawk-like bird, large enough to be ridden; some with a 50" wing span, they are bred for various reasons such as battle and racing.

Tibit- a small, thin-legged bird which lives on tiny mollusks found on the shore of the Thassa.

Tumit- large, flightless bird, about the size of an ostrich, having an 18' long beak and is carnivorous.

Umbrella bird- a bird that lives in the lower-canopies of the rainforests.

Veminium bird- a bird with a beautiful song, no other description given.

Vulo- a tawny colored poultry bird, similar to a pigeon, which also exists in the wild; used for meat and eggs.

Warbler- bird found in the rainforests

Waders- the ring-necked and yellowed-bill, a waterbird that inhabits the rivers of the rain forests.

Zad- a large, broad-winged, black & white bird, with a long, narrow, yellowish, hooked beak, found in the Tahari; they scavenge on carrion, similar to the Earth's vulture.

Zadit- a small, tawny feathered, sharp billed bird of the Tahari; insectivorous, feeding on sand flies and other similar insects, they often land on a kaiila and spend long periods hunting the sand flies that infest the host animal
