Basics of a serve
There are many ways to serve, each slave should do their
own thing and not copy something from another slave. The steps
should be followed to a serve be
it a quick serve or a full serve.
1.Kneeling: A slave always is before a Master or Mistress
when he or she offers to serve.
**NOTE**
When serving also make sure to include where you are.
Do you need to cross the camp?
Enter a serving wagon?
Do you pass a fire?
What do you feel, your emotions?
Be descriptive
.
3.The vessel: There are many different vessels to remember. Goblets, Tankards,
Bowls, Craters, and Cups are some of examples. If you are unsure what drink
is served in, ask. Its better to ask then to bring something wrong. For there are
some drinks that would not be served in some vessels.
Take red kalana for example,
it may not be served in silver.
The mixture of the drink and the silver is toxic and can
kill. So when in doubt, ask.
2.Stepping back: The symbolism of the number three is widely used in Gor.
The sky of Gor has three moons. Gorean Men separate life into three ages.
Gorean kajira counts three steps for the three vows of her service to Men;
love, devotion and trust.
4.Cleaning and checking for nicks and flaws: this is where a slave can show a personal touch. I have not seen in the scrolls where a vessel is checked for flaws, as normally a slave would not allow nicked vessels on the shelves. This is more used to sweeten and show the slaves body and such off. Ways to catch the Masters or Mistress attention. Be sure the Master or Mistress wishes to have it sweetened before you do this.
5.The food or Drink: Know how to get around and where things are in your home. Does the Master or Mistress wish the drink in a vessel or the bota, or a bottle, or do they wish a pitcher of something? Again you need to describe what you feel, what you see, smell, and sense. This gives the reader on the other end an idea of whats around you. Give them a picture with your words. Dont think that because you know your way around that they will.
6.Pouring and preparing: On the online Gor it is seen that most drinks are poured and served at the Masters or Mistress' feet although not always.((If not after returning to the Master/Mistress make sure you type out the position you use wether it be tower or nadu)) Does the drink need to be warmed over the fire before it served? Please make sure you know what you are serving so you can serve it correctly.
A slave will see that most of the time the slave will remove
the cork with their teeth, now this can be a problem
if the Master or Mistress does not wish contact with the vessel that they
will drink from or be served from. A boy/girl would be wise to ask if the
Master or Mistress wishes the drink tested and sweetened if he/she has not
done so already. But if you are sweetening a drink, please stop and
think about what you are about to serve, if a slave is serving hot
blackwyne or another hot drink and its poured over the body as seen online, this would burn a slave. If the Master or Mistress knows much of Gor they will know that a hot drink would be impossible to sweeten in this way.
a slave does not make the rules and goes by what the Master or Mistress
wishes. A slave can always sweeten the rim of the vessel before the drink is
added as well.
When testing the drink or food for toxins or poisons
a slave usually counts his/her slave heartbeats. I have seen
this done in many numbers, 3, 5, even 10. I like the 3 as it goes
back to the 3"s that the Gorean Man seems to go around. Three beats of a
slaves heart to respect love, honor and devotion to the Master or Mistress.
7.Offering the drink: a slave will after serving the drink in the manner the Master or Mistress wished will offer the drink to them. By holding the drink out to the Master or Mistress. In may cases the slave has been taught to kiss the rim of the vessel and turn it half way so that His or Her lips touch where his/hers were, basically showing that the vessel if free of nicks and anything that may harm the Free you serve. This again is touching the vessel where a free will drink from so another form is to kiss the side of the vessel below the rim. Be sure you are allowed to touch the rim of the vessel before you do so. If you were allowed to test it then basically its a known that you may kiss the rim
of the vessel before offering it the Free.
8.Speaking: It is common to let the Free know that the serve is finished by speaking and stating what the slave offers and also expressing that the serve was pleasing to the Free he/she serves.A slave should ALWAYS be pleasing.
9.Waiting: when a slave is finished serving, they settle back and wait. If the Master or Mistress does not speak, a slave should wait a respectable amount of time before asking if they can be of any further service. A slave remains at the feet of the Free until released. A slave does not greet or speak to others till he/she has been released.
