artrovert #010: "nature is darkened by frowns"
(#003 in the MONOTONIC collection)

created on: 06 october 2003

left: on the wolf tree nature trail at discovery park, seattle, washington

on: 08 october 2003

note: this one reminds me of how people take nature for granted, which is why i wanted to leave it in the forest.

a policeman (in his car) left the parking lot at the park when i got there, but then he came back and sat in his car, watching me walk down into the woods with a camera and a strange "something" in my hand. i think he left once i came back out of the woods and drove away. i must have looked suspicious. i'm not sure how, but maybe i have that fugitive look... ha, i'm sure.

medium: sharpie and watered-down acrylic on a small piece of matboard, 5.5" x 3.5"

the story:
Paul C. found #010 on 11 october 2003!

Dear PP.,
I have discovered a piece of your work at the Wolf Tree Nature Trail @ Discovery Park (of all places).  I'm a software programmer that moved here to Seattle (Belltown, to be specific) a couple years ago after graduating from the University of Florida.
I really like the idea of artrovertism... this is the first I've heard of it.  I'm thrilled to have found your artwork ; )

Thanks for everything!

Paul

P.S. I have larger versions of the attached pictures if you're interested : )

then i replied...

Dear Paul,
I am so excited that you have found #010! You are the only person who has ever responded so far (and that's including art that I have left in April, June, and July).  I actually stopped by both of the Discovery Park sites yesterday to see if the artroverts were gone, and I was happy to see that both indeed were.
There are only a few artrovertists out in the world (at the moment, I only know of three others; however, those people are not necessarily practicing artrovertism for the time being).
Anyway, thank you so much for your pictures.  I will post them and your story.  Thank you so much for responding, and good luck to you in all your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
PP.
obviously the wet and windy weather of Seattle got to this one inside it's baggie...
