Kevin Whately Kevin was born in Northumberland and was the son of a sailor. He toyed with becoming a doctor, but trained as an accountant. He joined a top firm, Price Waterhouse, but left to study acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Kevin is a talented guitarist and formed a folk duo with friend, Andy McKay. Together they toured pubs and clubs in Ireland. He has been arrested twice for busking on the Underground. Kevin is married to actress, Madelaine Newton and they have two children, Kitty and Kieran.

Dr Jack Kerruish Jack moved to the Beeches surgery in Cardale when he returned from Zimbabwe, where he had set up a clinic. There was friction between him and Dr Beth Glover at first, but the two eventually got it together and later married. After he was accused of negligence, when he delivered a baby at the roadside following a car accident, he returned to Africa for a while but he came back home to Beth in the end. They planned to have a family together but Beth suffered a miscarriage. The two left Cardale for good in 1995 and went to start a new life in Africa. PHOTOS
