Amanda Burton Amanda was born in Londonderry, Ireland and she trained at the Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre. Her parents also acted in amateur plays. She has always been interested in medicine and took Literature and Biology as her A-levels. In 1989, Amanda married Sven Arnstein, a celebrity photographer. They have two daughters, Phoebe and Brid. There were once newspaper allegations of a romance with co-star, Kevin Whately, but Amanda had always refused to talk about it.

Dr Beth Glover / Kerruish Beth inherited the Beeches from her father and hired Dr Jack Kerruish when he came to to Cardale from Africa. Beth and Jack got married when Beth eventually gave into her feelings for him and they planned to have a family. The couple's joy at Beth's pregnancy was short-lived as she suffered a miscarriage. Unable to get over their torment in Cardale, the two left Cardale for good in 1995 and went to live in Africa. PHOTOS
