I get asked questions all the time via email, and I figured instead of answering the same questions time and time again, I'll just add a FAQ page for people to check out before emailing me with questions about the site. So Here Goes...

Q. How Come You Don't Have bands like Racer X, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai on the site?

A. Those bands to me are SHREDDER music, although that music IS indeed good, this site is for the more Melodic Hair bands of the late 80's.

Q. Can I contribute tabs of the above bands to the site?

A. No, Although a lot of people like those bands, it doesn't fit with the theme of this site.

Q. How can this be a HAIRBAND site without bands like Motley Crue, Guns 'N Roses, Queensryche included on it?

A. This site focuses more on the more OBSCURE and RARE bands of the late 80's or early 90's. You can find a ton of tabs by Motley Crue, GNR, etc in so many places on the net including powertabs.net, so check there if you want those tabs.

Q. What Bands Are You Looking For?

A. Pretty much anything that is already on the site but has no tabs of, just basically go onto ANY page on this site, and see what ISN'T there, and it gives
you a pretty good idea. It's safe to say though that if it's a hair band, and isn't so easy to find, It's a safe bet to say we're interested. Just cuz you don't see a trace of some bands on this site (Damn Yankees, Brother Cane, Sweet F.A., etc) doesn't mean we're not interested in acquiring tabs by these bands, by all means if you have any, send em in, and they will be posted.

Q. Where Do You Get Your Tabs?

A. We have a pretty cool fan base of people that check out the site, and they are cool enough to send in scans, tab out songs by ear, or they email us and ask for scans so they can tab em out and contribute. I have collected a mini collection of scanned tabs that I can send people individual songs of and they can tab out if interested, maybe eventually I'll post a list of the stuff I have so people can just pick and choose what they wanna tab out before emailing us.

Q. How can you say that you tabbed a song? it looks identical to a tab I did years ago, therefore it's mine! You Stole It! You Thief!

A. I try to tab most of my own stuff, or if someone sends me something and it has a bad layout, I will edit it, but the person will still get credit, I don't change the tabber name on the songs, whoever tabbed it remains. But if mine looks identical to yours, then tough shit, cuz most likely I tabbed it from the same book you did, so it will have a similar look, and will contain the same notation. Complaining, and people calling me a thief pisses me off, so I won't tolerate it.

Q. I don't like your site, it contains a lot of tabs from other sites such as the now defunct justpowertabs.com, and other places.

A. Talk to the hand!..No but seriously, me and Ivan at justpowertabs.com trade tabs back and forth that we did, so don't go saying I stole tabs from him, or he stole ones from me, just look at the tabbers names, if it says peekaboo104, that is him, if it says SheriffOniBob it's me, if it says Dizzy Gillespie, that is my friend, and co-webmaster of this site.

Q. Will you accept scans by bands like Van Halen, Boston, or other non hair band genres.

A. If it rocks I'll pretty much accept it, but I won't post them on this site. I like a lot of the 80's rock bands, but only the glam/hair/hard rock bands will appear here. If you still don't understand, I'll explain it simple, if they appeared in Metal Edge Magazine back in the late 80's, early 90's (Pre-Paul Gargano era), then I'm pretty much interested in them. (Everything from Brother Cane, Enuff Z Nuff to Pretty Boy Floyd to Tuff)

Q. Who runs the site?

A. The site is run mostly by Me (Dizzy Gillespie), but SheriffOniBob makes the updates a lot of times when it comes to adding new stuff. It's a co-working relationship.

Q. Is SheriffOniBob and Dizzy Gillespie the same person?

A. No. If you see some of the older tabs on the site, those were tabbed by Me (Dizzy). Sheriff mostly works on the newer and more rare and hard to find tabs.
So please, no more questions confusing the 2 of us. Dizzy doesn't give out his email addie, nor will he respond to emails concerning tabs, SheriffOniBob will. So forward all inquiries to The Sheriff. Thanks.

Q. I saw the _______  powertab on ________ Site. Do you have permission to use it? or did you steal it?

A. I get tabs emailed in, and rarely do I ever go to sites looking for tabs on sites because there rarely IS ever any sites with any good tabs that fit the theme of this site. I mostly deal with people that email tabs to me or to the sheriff, and sometimes I get some from the powertab archive. Every time I aquire a tab though, I try to get their permission to use it on this site before posting it, unless they don't reply, and therefore I'll post it, and take it down if they have a problem with it. So any tab on here you see is used by permission of the tabber, or if the tabber had a problem with it, they would have voiced their concern and it would be removed from the site immediately.

Q. I Tabbed this song years ago, and you have it labelled as tabbed by Dizzy Gillespie, why is that?

A. Show me proof that this is your tab! If it has a certain layout, or certain notation style/chord progression/use of certain kinds of notes, etc that's because it IS copied out of a TAB BOOK! I try to tab out of books and then do my own layout, as does the sheriff. But some of the older tabs I have, I haven't bothered to change the layout on em. I'm still working on freshening up some of the newer tabs done by Sheriff and other people. So unless someone can show me proof that this is YOUR TAB! then don't even bother pleading your case. Someone on the archive said a while back that if you wanna prove that a tab is yours add a little mistake in somewhere, or a FINE little thing so that you can prove that it's yours in case of theft, and that is a good idea. Put it where a Tab Thief isn't gonna find it and change it on you. Even something as subtle as in the Rehearsal Signs, or in the performance notes, or whatever. I personally don't look at performance notes much, and neither do most people. So that's a good place to possibly start.

Another reason for my name being on a tab is once in a while someone emails in a tab by whatever band, and it has no tabber name on it, or anything and I have to make MASSIVE edits to it, including filling in all the info, etc. I try emailing back the person asking who tabbed it, but if they don't reply I either put their name on it, and if I don't know their name I'll put mine or make up some name to put as the tabber E.G. (LynchFan#1/Reb Beach Fan etc). Sometimes also people email in a REALLY, and I emphasize this fully, a REALLY ROUGH tab, the timing is horrible, the layout sucks, they hardly did anything to it but the notes are 100% correct, etc and I have to change it around, and basically do a facelift on it. I'll put my name on it, but I'll also give credit to whoever figured out the song.

Well that completes the FAQ section for now, more will be added later, but that is all I can think of now, so I hope this helps. And I do hope that people read this before emailing with questions of that nature. I will still reply to all emails, but I prefer if people don't ask about submitting Racer X or Steve Vai tabs, because it tends to get a bit annoying, but feel free to peruse this FAQ and email at your own discretion.

Thanks for taking the time to read this FAQ and Enjoy the rest of the site.
