| Chapter 4: Emergency Room Will went ahead of Elizabeth so he could get washed up for surgery. The attendants brought Maria in and wheeled her into the operating theatre. Elizabeth saw Matt standing there, looking helpless. "Matt, come and sit down, it's going to be a while" Elizabeth coaxed, gently. Matt nodded, sinking into the chair near her. "Liz, I'm really scared, what if I lose her?" Matt said, tearfully. "She's my wife, my soulmate". "She'll make it, she's strong" Elizabeth reassured him "I'm sure Will won't let anything happen to her". Matt nodded, bowing his nead, staring at the floor. An hour later, Will came out to see them. "What happened? Is she okay?" Matt asked, anxiously. "Maria is fine, but as for the baby..." Will trailed off "I'm really sorry, Man" Will placed a hand on Matt's shoulder supportingly. "Could I see her?" Matt asked. "Absolutely" Will exclaimed. Will showed Matt where Maria was and then came back to see his wife. "Wow, what a night, huh?" Will said to her. "Yes, it was" Elizabeth said, softly. Will knew the look on her face because the next thing she knew, Will was holding her tightly in his arms. Elizabeth wept on his shoulder, softly. She raised her head, wiping her eyes. "Do you want to go back to the reunion?" Will asked. "If you don't mind, I think I'd like to go home" Elizabeth said, weakly. "I'm not really up to being social anymore". "Me either" Will added. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and they left the hospital, heading home. Back at the reunion...... Amy sat with Lila and Jessica, missing Ken. "I hope Maria's allright" Amy exclaimed in a small voice. "Yeah, it was so scary seeing her crying out in pain like that" Jessica added. "Where did Liz go?" Lila asked. "She went to the hospital with Will" Jessica told them. All three of them glanced around the room, seeing Melissa and Todd still together, all over each other. "Don't they ever come up for air?" Amy groaned. "It's nauseating" Jessica agreed. Lila nodded. Matt walked out of Maria's ward to see Ken, Connor and Tia McDermott sitting in the waiting room. They all stood up when they saw him. "Matt, how's Maria?" Ken asked, concerned. "She's fine, we lost the baby, but we can have more children" Matt replied with a weak smile. "Will did a wonderful job". "That's great, man" Connor exclaimed, patting him on the shoulder. "Well, I'm going to spend the night, I'll tell her you're thinking of her. If you want, you can visit her tomorrow" Matt suggested. "We will, take care Matt" Tia spoke up, quietly. She took Connor's hand and they walked towards the exit. Ken shook his hand and left too. |
